We used this text to model the trait, Ideas, from the Six Traits of Writing. The students went on a scavenger hunt for interesting details for their stories. Their prompt was, "Nothing Interesting Happens at Carroll Elementary." I can't wait to read them!

We are learning how to give positive feedback on papers and how to help each other add details. They did great!

Book Buddies - Botkin/Carson classes

The 3rd graders reviewed text to self connections with the 1st graders today. They asked them if they had ever felt the way the character in the book had and then created a poster to share. :)

iPad lab and Library

Check out what we did in the iPad lab today. Thank you Mrs. Edelstein for assisting us. We also used iPads in the library to review using the Library catalog. 

Types of Sentences

The students went around the room and added a sentence to each paper.

** Declarative- tells something (.)

** Imperative- a command (.)

** Interrogative - asks something (?)

** Exclamatory - shows feeling (!)

College Week - September 16-20

                   

Monday – “Be all you can be!” – wear camo!

Tuesday – “Hats off to setting goals!” – wear your favorite hat!

Wednesday – College fits me to a “T” – wear a cool college shirt or jersey!

Thursday – “3 Cheers for Careers!”  - dress as your future career choice!

Friday – “We’ve Got Spirit, Yes We Do!” – Show school spirit by wearing a FISD school shirt!
